Who I Am

BEYOND
THE SUMMIT

Portrait of Amy Eyman Mir — Norwegian-Pakistani mountaineer and athlete, Stavanger
K2 · 2026

I am not one thing. I am a mountaineer who has stood at the foot of K2, preparing to reach its summit. I am a rope access technician who trusts her life to training and discipline every single day, high above the North Sea. I am a runner who has crossed finish lines from London to Lysefjord.

I was born and raised in Norway to Pakistani parents, and given the name Eman — Arabic for faith — a name that was once made into a joke, but has quietly guided my whole life. I discovered the Norwegian outdoors at 17 through a DNT magazine that arrived unexpectedly in the post, and I have not stopped moving since.

I carry my faith, my heritage, and my identity not as burdens to manage, but as armour to wear proudly — showing that it is possible to be all things at once: Norwegian, Pakistani, Muslim, engineer, athlete, explorer, and pioneer.

"Jeg velger å være synlig — for deg. Jeg viser at det går an å være alt på én gang: norsk, pakistansk, muslim, petroleumstekniker, tilkomsttekniker, ekspedisjonsjente, pioner."

HELP ME
REACH K2

K2 is the world's second-highest and most dangerous mountain. Getting there requires months of preparation, specialised equipment, permits, guides, and logistics across Pakistan's Karakoram range.

I am not sponsored by a corporation. I am funded by people who believe in this mission — and in what it represents for every girl who has been told the summit isn't for her.

Every contribution goes directly toward expedition costs: permits, gear, high-altitude training, and transport. No contribution is too small — and every one is felt.

WHERE I
CLIMB

01
K2 Base Camp
5,150m · Karakoram · Pakistan
The first step toward the summit. In 2022, I reached the foot of K2 through Pakistan's Baltoro Glacier — trekking to the base of the world's second-highest mountain. For most people, this is the journey of a lifetime. For me, it was the beginning.

02
K2 Summit Bid
8,611m · "Det Ville Fjellet"
The ultimate objective. K2 — the Savage Mountain — has a death rate that dwarfs Everest's. In 2026, I am attempting a full summit bid. Not sponsored from the start, but driven by conviction: gathering courage, mentors, and supporters one step at a time.

Norwegian Peaks
Norway · Fjords to Arctic
A life built in Norwegian terrain — from the highlands of Rogaland to remote arctic ranges. I have led tours for Stavanger Turistforening and guided others into the wilderness, always believing the outdoors belongs to everyone who shows up.

The Philosophy

ADVENTURE
IS THE
MEDICINE

"All my expeditions have been done between studies, between job changes, and during holidays. Life is hectic. The expeditions give me energy — and time to think."

Professional Life

ROPES,
RIGS &
ROUGH SEAS

I bring the same nerve I apply on mountain faces to the North Sea. As a certified rope access technician, I work suspended at height on offshore structures — precision work where complacency is never an option. I currently work for Archer Vertikal, serving the offshore oil and gas industry in Norway.

  • Rope Access Technician (IRATA) — certified to work suspended on industrial structures at height, serving offshore oil & gas platforms across the North Sea.
  • Archer Vertikal — part of Norway's leading oilfield services group, serving the demanding North Sea sector.
  • Petroleum Technician — technical education in drilling and petroleum technology, Norwegian Drilling Academy / Nortrain.
  • I work in an industry that remains overwhelmingly male-dominated — my presence on the platform is itself a statement of what is possible.

Amy Mir running London Marathon — 42km race finish
42K
London Marathon
26.2 Miles · London, UK
One of the world's most iconic road races — 42km through the heart of London. Crossing that finish line was a statement of endurance, pace, and the discipline it takes to show up for a challenge that once felt impossibly far away.

Lysefjorden Inn
Ultra Marathon · 2025 · Rogaland, Norway
An ultra marathon through the dramatic Lysefjord landscape — on my own doorstep. Jagged mountain terrain, brutal vertical gain, and the relentless beauty of Rogaland's fjord country. Completed in 2025.

The global functional fitness race: 8km of running combined with 8 demanding exercise stations — ski erg, sled push, burpee broad jumps, and more. I competed at Hyrox Oslo in September 2025.

My Mission
"I choose to be visible — for you. To show that you can be everything at once: Norwegian, Pakistani, Muslim, engineer, athlete, pioneer. Because when one walks ahead, the path becomes easier for those who follow."
01
Breaking Barriers
In the offshore industry and on the world's most dangerous peaks, I show that there are no professions, no summits, and no finish lines that belong exclusively to men. Every boundary I cross is a door I hold open for the next person.
02
Faith as Strength
My name, Eman, means faith in Arabic. That name was once made into a joke. I have made it my foundation. My Islamic identity and spiritual conviction are sources of resilience — not limitations to be overcome.
03
Role Model
Through media, sport, and professional life, I want to inspire the next generation of girls — especially those who don't see themselves reflected anywhere — to pursue an active life, ambitious careers, and their own unapologetic definition of what is possible.
